I have ADSL in a semi rural location and it is very poor and drops out a lot. Is there a 4G backup so when it fails it switches to mobile data? Fibre is at the top of our road 500m away.

I achieve 3-5Mbps down and 0.2Mbps upload on the ADSL, when connected to MEO mobile data i speedtest 24Mbps down and 24Mbps upload at the router location so i think this may be a better solution.

Is this possible?

Due to some limitations that DSL may have, distance from the exchange, network line conditions, interferences, etc. Provided you have already gone through the technical service "X" times and there is no way to improve the connection. As you reports having better coverage with the mobile network, perhaps it will be better to consider with the commercial helpline the possibility of transferring technology (DSL → mobile), or other solution. There are mobile tariffs that allow you to browse in total comfort, compared to the monthly internet/traffic plaford, see https://www.meo.pt/servicos/movel/tarifarios-telemovel/pos-pago/m-movel-ilimitado. Other situation is to hire the mobile on top of your DSL service, see https://www.meo.pt/servicos/movel/net-pc-router/pos-pagos

Also you could check live your mobile coverage with this kinda android aplication like explained here  (sorry it’s in portuguese). but it will show you the signal strength, location of antenas near your  and a lot of usefull information about mobile network at your location.

thanks i found an apple version to see the towers, that works good.

I think it would be a beneficial opportunity for meo to offer a mobile data backup in the router same as we already have for UK included in the price. This means you never loose connection as you have fibre/ADSL + 4G and data that is load balanced.
