How do I topup my sim for hotspot

Hello, I bought a hotspot a while back with a preloaded sim card. I am now in need of it again, but can’t seem to find where to add data to the sim card again. When I try to add the products on my existing account, it just gives error and says to ensure the sim is active. The problem is, I can’t find where to confirm this.
